TERMS OF USE
Terms of Use
For Sanary Money on iPhone and Mac.
The Sanary general terms apply to matters not covered here. Where they differ on matters such as purchasing or storage in Money for iPhone and Mac, these Money-specific terms take precedence.
Last updated: 21 September 2026
1. The service
Sanary Money is an app for recording income and expenses, viewing transaction history, and reviewing totals and charts. These terms apply to the iPhone and Mac versions.
2. Free use and purchases
AI Unlock and Analysis Unlock are both one-time, non-consumable purchases. With Universal Purchase, entitlements are shared across iPhone and Mac using the same Apple Account. Purchases are checked through the App Store and StoreKit, separately from iCloud sync of financial records.
Analysis Unlock also enables the annual category cross-tabulation and annual household income and expense table. Charts and calculated figures in all eight Mac analysis views can be viewed without a purchase.
Manual entry, history and calendar views, totals and charts, local storage of regular financial records, and optional iCloud sync are free. Core features are free. Each of the eight Mac analysis views includes three free successful AI interpretations; both Analysis Unlock and AI Unlock are required after that. Mac AI Import includes three free successful uses each for images, PDFs, and CSVs; AI Unlock is required after that. Each iPhone AI feature also includes three free successful uses, followed by AI Unlock. See purchase information for feature-specific requirements.
The price is shown on the in-app purchase screen. Purchases and restoration use Apple’s services. Refunds are subject to the store’s terms.
3. Requirements and reading results
The Mac version requires macOS 14 or later. AI features have additional requirements, including a supported Apple Intelligence environment and the device and OS conditions shown in the app. AI uses Apple Foundation Models, and Private Cloud Compute (PCC) may be used in supported environments. Purchasing does not change AI requirements. Check AI availability in the app before purchasing. Recording, totals, and charts remain available without AI. The Mac version has been submitted to the App Store and is under review, ahead of release.
Receipt reading and AI features require a supported device, OS, and the usage conditions shown in the app. Purchase availability and AI availability are separate requirements.
Check original records and official documents before using information for tax returns, accounting, contracts, or other important decisions.
We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of reading results or AI output. Check the details before saving. AI output is for reference and does not replace professional advice on investments, tax, or similar matters.
4. Storing and deleting records, and iCloud sync
Regular household finance records are stored on each of your devices, and the data on each device is the primary copy. Sanary does not send or store your regular financial records on servers operated by Sanary or on AWS.
iCloud sync is an optional feature provided free as a core feature, and it is off by default. If you turn it on, the synced financial records are synced between devices signed in with the same Apple Account through your own iCloud (Apple’s CloudKit private database). See the Privacy Policy for what does and does not sync. Apple’s terms apply to your use of iCloud.
iCloud sync depends on being signed in to iCloud, having available iCloud storage, having a network connection, and the status of Apple’s services. We do not guarantee that sync will be immediate, complete, or continuous.
When iCloud sync is on, deleting synced data such as transactions, budgets, and recurring expenses is also carried over to your other devices. “Delete Data on This Device” in Settings deletes only the data on this device and does not automatically delete data in iCloud. Turning sync off does not automatically delete data that has already synced to iCloud. To manage or delete data in iCloud, use Apple’s iCloud storage management.
Data loss caused by device failure, loss, deletion, sync problems, or similar events cannot be fully prevented. Sanary cannot restore your financial records from Sanary’s servers or from your private database. See the Privacy Policy for external processing used by features such as receipt reading.
5. Responsible use
You must not violate laws or third-party rights, interfere with the service, or gain unauthorised access. Only import images and documents you have permission to use.
Fraudulently obtaining access rights or benefits, or placing excessive load on processing features, is also prohibited.
Service changes and interruptions
Sanary may change, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the service when needed for maintenance, incident response, compliance with laws or store terms, or other necessary reasons. Significant changes will be communicated by reasonable means.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Except in cases of intent or gross negligence, Sanary is not responsible for indirect or special damages, lost profits, or data loss arising from use of the service. If the Consumer Contract Act or other applicable law prevents all or part of this provision from applying, that law takes precedence.
Changes to these terms
Sanary may change these terms when necessary, including following changes in law or features. Significant changes will be announced in the app, on this page, or through other notices before they take effect.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Japanese law. Unless otherwise required by law, the court with jurisdiction over the operator’s location has exclusive agreed jurisdiction at first instance for disputes concerning the service.
