Answers to common questions and ways to get in touch.
What can I do on Mac?
The Mac version requires macOS 14 or later and offers eight analysis views, budget settings, and AI import from images, PDFs, and CSVs on a larger screen. Imports create suggested entries for you to review and edit before saving. The Mac version has been submitted to the App Store and is under review, ahead of release.
What can I use for free?
Manual entry, history and calendar views, totals and charts, local storage of regular financial records, and optional iCloud sync are free.
How do AI Unlock and Analysis Unlock differ?
Core features are free. Each of the eight Mac analysis views includes three free successful AI interpretations; both Analysis Unlock and AI Unlock are required after that. Mac AI Import includes three free successful uses each for images, PDFs, and CSVs; AI Unlock is required after that. Each iPhone AI feature also includes three free successful uses, followed by AI Unlock. See purchase information for feature-specific requirements. Analysis Unlock also enables the annual category cross-tabulation and annual household income and expense table. Charts and calculated figures in all eight Mac analysis views can be viewed without a purchase. See purchase information for details. Free usage is recorded on your device for each feature. Successful executions count; failed ones do not. Each successfully read image counts once; each PDF, EML, or CSV processing operation counts once; each consultation reply counts once. Successful reading counts even if you do not save the result. Viewing a saved AI monthly review does not use an execution. Free usage is not included in iCloud sync.
What if AI is unavailable?
The Mac version requires macOS 14 or later. AI features have additional requirements, including a supported Apple Intelligence environment and the device and OS conditions shown in the app. AI uses Apple Foundation Models, and Private Cloud Compute (PCC) may be used in supported environments. Purchasing does not change AI requirements. Check AI availability in the app before purchasing. Recording, totals, and charts remain available without AI.
How do I restore a purchase?
AI Unlock and Analysis Unlock are both one-time, non-consumable purchases. With Universal Purchase, entitlements are shared across iPhone and Mac using the same Apple Account. Purchases are checked through the App Store and StoreKit, separately from iCloud sync of financial records. Use Restore Purchases in Settings with the same Apple Account used for the purchase. This restores your entitlement, not financial records. To use your financial records on another device, use the optional iCloud sync (turn it on in Settings).
Can I use it offline?
Manual entry and viewing saved records work offline. Purchases, restoration, iCloud sync, and AI processing that uses PCC require a network connection.
How are records stored and deleted?
Regular financial records are stored on each of your devices. Edit or delete entries in history, or delete all data on this device with “Delete Data on This Device” in Settings (this does not automatically delete data in iCloud). When iCloud sync is on, deleting items such as transactions, budgets, and recurring expenses is also carried over to your other devices. Sanary does not hold a copy of your financial records on its servers and cannot restore them. See the Privacy Policy for external processing.
What is iCloud sync?
It is a free, optional feature that syncs your financial records between devices signed in with the same Apple Account, such as your iPhone and Mac. It is off by default and works only if you turn it on in Settings. Your data goes through your own iCloud (Apple’s CloudKit private database), not through Sanary’s servers. No Sanary account is required.
What syncs and what does not?
These sync: income and expenses (including items), budgets, recurring expenses, remembered item categories, and home currency. These do not sync: free AI usage counts, purchase entitlements (checked separately through the App Store and StoreKit), financial consultation messages, cached insights, badges, and appearance settings such as theme, language, and font.
What happens when I turn sync off?
Sync stops, and the data on your device stays as it is. Data that has already synced to iCloud is not deleted automatically.
How do I manage or delete data in iCloud?
Use Apple’s iCloud storage management (open your Apple Account in the Settings of your device and manage iCloud storage). Labels and steps vary by OS. “Delete Data on This Device” affects only the data on this device and does not delete data in iCloud.
What if sync is not working?
Check that you are signed in to iCloud, that you have available iCloud storage, and that you have a network connection. Sync can be delayed depending on the status of Apple’s services. If it does not improve, contact us using the details below.
How can I contact support?
Use the contact form (info@sanary.jp). When the form is opened from the app, the app version, build, and OS information are added automatically. Only include financial records when necessary.
