Sanary Build InterfaceSBI · VS Code Extension for macOS

Run your coding agents
from VS Code.

Run Claude Code or Codex on the workspace you already have open. The CLI is yours; SBI is the free interface that connects it to VS Code and keeps an eye on it.

01 / GET STARTED

Three steps to begin.

Install the extension, open a workspace, and run “SBI: Run Agent” from the Command Palette. In Chat, “@sbi /claude” and “@sbi /codex” do the same.

InstallAdd the extension
OpenOpen a workspace
RunPick an Agent and an instruction
WatchCheck the result

The result appears in the “SBI” Output panel and as a notification.

02 / YOUR CLI

You run the CLI.
SBI connects it.

Claude Code and Codex use the command-line tools that you installed. SBI never installs them and never signs in for you.

  • Claude Code
  • Codex

Clear roles.

Your CLI does the work, SBI connects it, and SBB can optionally evaluate the result.

  2. SBI connects.To VS Code
  3. SBB evaluates.Optionally
  4. You decide. The call is yours

03 / WATCH

See which workspace
is at work.

Through the Claude Code and Codex hooks, SBI’s Runtime keeps track of which workspace an agent is working in. If SBB or SBG is running, it also shows up in Sanary’s monitoring.

PRIVACY / LOCAL

It stays on your Mac.
What it changes is spelled out.

Nothing goes to Sanary

No account, no telemetry. SBI does not send data to Sanary’s servers. Its communication is limited to 127.0.0.1 on your Mac.

Files it changes, listed

To register hooks, SBI edits ~/.claude/settings.json, ~/.codex/hooks.json (and a marked SBI block in config.toml), and ~/.sbi/hooks. Everything else in them is kept as it is.

Uninstall puts it back

Uninstalling removes only what SBI itself added. Merely disabling the extension leaves your settings untouched.

For details, see privacy on the Support page and the Sanary Privacy Policy.

REQUIREMENTS

What you need

macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon (arm64) only. VS Code 1.100 or later, and the Claude Code CLI or the Codex CLI, whichever you use. It does not run on Intel Macs, Windows, or Linux.

  • macOS 13+
  • Apple Silicon
  • VS Code 1.100+
  • Claude Code / Codex CLI

OPTIONAL

It works without SBB.

SBB (Sanary Build Bridge) is an optional Sanary app for macOS. When it is running, SBI sends an Agent’s result to it for evaluation and shows the decision next to the result. Without SBB, the Agent still runs normally; the evaluation is shown as unavailable and is never treated as approval.

Claude and Claude Code are products of Anthropic; Codex and OpenAI are products of OpenAI. Sanary Build Interface is an independent Sanary product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic or OpenAI. It works with the Claude Code and Codex command-line tools that you install yourself.
