Private Cloud Compute

How Sanary uses AI:
Private Cloud Compute

Health, daily life, beauty, development. Because our AI handles information that matters, we care about how that information is processed. Sanary uses different AI for different jobs, and Private Cloud Compute (PCC) is one we actively choose.

On-device whenever it is enough PCC for the bigger jobs Designed with privacy in mind

What is PCC

Bigger AI, without giving up privacy.

Private Cloud Compute (PCC) is Apple's system for running AI in the cloud. It is designed to handle larger AI requests than a device can manage on its own, with privacy as a starting point.

  1. More than a device can do alone PCC lets an app use larger AI models for requests that are too big for on-device AI.
  2. Designed with privacy in mind Apple states that personal data sent to PCC is used only to fulfill the request, is not retained after the response is returned, and is not accessible to Apple staff.
  3. Not Sanary collecting your data For features that use PCC, Sanary does not gather your data to process it on AI servers of our own. The request is processed on Apple's PCC.

The description of PCC and its protections here is based on what Apple has published. They are Apple's commitments, not guarantees made by Sanary. For details, see Apple's official information. Apple Security Research: Private Cloud Compute ↗ Private Cloud Compute Security Guide ↗

Why PCC

When AI handles personal information,
where it runs matters too.

“It’s powerful AI” is not enough of a reason. Daily records, documents, photos, files you are working on: the information we hand to AI is personal. That is why Sanary cares where, and how, it is processed.

What a device can do, the device does.

When a bigger AI job is needed, PCC.

On-device and PCC are not rivals. Sanary uses each for what it suits, depending on the job.
  • Room for bigger jobs Organizing a large amount of records or reading complex documents, tasks that are hard for on-device AI alone.
  • A clear place for processing Instead of Sanary running its own AI servers and collecting data, requests are processed on PCC, which Apple designed.
  • Open to outside verification Apple says it makes the software images of its production PCC builds available so security researchers can inspect them.

Choosing by the job

On-device On your device first What can be done well on the device stays on the device.
Private Cloud Compute PCC when bigger reasoning is needed When a request is more than on-device AI can handle, we use PCC.

Use cases

Where Sanary uses PCC

What information AI handles, and what for. Here is how it shows up across Sanary’s apps.

Sanary Log Record it, organize it, look back on it.

  • Life

Sanary Build Connecting the flow of development.

  • Sanary Build Bridge (SBB)

    AI result check

One AI checks the work of another.

SBB uses Private Cloud Compute to independently review the work of AI agents such as Claude and Codex. It is not about generating code on PCC. It is about having a separate AI double-check the work of the one you delegated to, which is a way of using AI particular to SBB.

    1. 1An AI agent such as Claude or Codex does the work
    2. 2SBB reviews the result independently, using PCC
    3. 3You look at the findings and decide
  • SanaryBuild Meter

Investigating and understanding your Mac (Ask about this)

    Information
Your Mac’s system information and development environment
    Purpose
Pick an item you are curious about, ask, and get an explanation right where you see it. Measuring and Health judgment stay outside AI

And more

And there is more to come.

PCC is not a feature of one particular app. Sanary will keep using PCC wherever privacy and AI need to go hand in hand.

Things to keep in mind

  • Features that use PCC work on devices, OS versions and regions that support Apple Intelligence, and while you are online. Usage limits may apply. Check availability inside each app.
  • The AI services used differ by app and feature. See our AI Usage Policy for details.
  • AI output is for reference only. It does not replace your own judgment on medical, financial or development decisions, so please verify anything important.
